KUALA LUMPUR – An immediate stop-work order has been issued by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to the developer and only remedial works are allowed on site following a landslide in Taman Pertama, Cheras that levelled an entire house yesterday.

DBKL has also instructed the developer to fortify the “contiguous bore pile (CBP) wall” with an earth berm (raised barrier) and concrete blocks.

In a statement, the local authority said it has appointed Ikram as an independent consultant to review and monitor works on the CBP wall as well as evaluate the overall CBP wall design given by the developer’s consultant.

The developer has also been told to provide permanent solutions to all issues at the construction site.

As part of the safety measures, water and electricity supply to the collapsed house has been stopped, while Air Selangor has resolved the burst pipe at the end of Lorong Selagat.

DBKL added that personnel from its infrastructure planning and enforcement departments will monitor the site daily until it is deemed safe.

After yesterday’s landslide, a house was levelled, and eight others rendered unsafe for occupancy.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement that its operations centre received a distress call about 2.52pm notifying them of the incident along Lorong Selangat.

“The personnel and police had instructed residents to vacate their homes and move to safe areas. No casualties were reported,” the statement read. – The Vibes, May 23, 2022
